WallEz – TS4 Wall Pattern creation tool
WallEz is used to create package files with new wall patterns for TS4. It does not clone an existing item,
so there is no need to have TS4 installed or have any pre-existing .package files available, and no other
modding tools are required. All you’ll an image editor that can export in DDS format (eg. GIMP, Photoshop or Paintshop Pro with a
DDS filter installed) a plain-text editor (Notepad will do; a coding editor like Notepad++ will help avoid errors)
To install WallEz, simply extract the .exe and the 2 .dll files somewhere on your hard drive and create a
shortcut to the .exe on your desktop (optional).
Note: While WallEz is simple and fast, you do need to know how to a) create a DDS file in your image
editor, and b) write a valid XML text file. If XML code frightens you, this program is not for you!
To use the program you simply drag a properly formatted xml file on the shortcut, or run WallEz from
the command line with the name of the xml file following it. This will run for a moment and create a
package file in the same folder as the xml file.
The xml file needs to be structured as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Package Creator="creator name" Filename="destination package name">
<Wall Price="2" Name="name to display in-game" Description="Description to display">
<Tag Type="Color" Value="Red"/>
<Tag Type="Style" Value="Wallpaper"/>
<Swatch Top="#ff0000" Middle="#00ff00" Bottom="#0000ff"/>
<TextureShort Filename="short DDS Filename"/>
<TextureMedium Filename="medium DDS Filename"/>
<TextureTall Filename="tall DDS Filename"/>
</Wall>
</Package>
All entries that are yellow on black MUST be edited to values supplied by the creator.
The <Wall /> section can be repeated multiple times to package multiple walls under the same
thumbnail in-game.
The <Tag /> entry can specify either a “Col type. There can be 1 or more of each tag Type
in place to make the wall show up in more filter areas.
